About Mihaela Bucur

Dr Mihaela Bucur is Co-Vice Chair of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine and a member of the BSLM Board of Trustees. She brings extensive leadership experience at the intersection of psychiatry, medical education, and lifestyle medicine. Dr Bucur currently serves as Director of Education and Training at Psychiatry UK and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

She has held senior national roles, including Associate Registrar for Wellbeing and Retention and Chair of the Wellbeing Committee at the Royal College of Psychiatrists (2019–2022), where she led strategic initiatives to improve clinician wellbeing and workforce sustainability. Dr Bucur has also made a substantial contribution to postgraduate medical education as Course Lead for the MSc in Psychiatry at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. Within BSLM, she previously served as Chair of the Mental Health Special Interest Group, helping to advance the integration of lifestyle medicine principles into mental health care.

Clinically, Dr Bucur is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician with broad expertise in General Adult Psychiatry. Her work is grounded in a holistic, evidence-based, and person-centred approach, integrating lifestyle medicine with psychiatric practice to address key determinants of mental health..

Alongside her clinical and leadership roles, Dr Bucur holds an MSc in Clinical Psychiatry, a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education, and Physician Certification from the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine/British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications and is widely recognised for her compassionate, integrative approach to mental health care, recovery, and professional wellbeing.
